The Terrible Truth Told by Obama's Open Mic Slip

JetBlue Captain's Erratic Behavior Forces Emergency Landing
Normally I wouldn't bother with this, but the reporting had a couple of problems worth mentioning: 1, the story mentions the captain's possible veteran's status, seemingly to provide an explanation, and 2, it assumes that erratic behavior is not compatible with a medical issue. I don't know his actual condition, but I do know that it's a terrible mistake to rule out medical issues when someone begins acting out.

Dismissed Majors Say Warning Wasn't Enough
I first heard about this a few months ago when a family friend didn't get his promotion and therefore was dismissed. I have sympathy for both sides of the issue, but I have the feeling that the bottom line was the defense budget bottom line. While I know it's most important to keep our best people, the comparisons to post-Cold War drawdowns are disturbing.
