Christmas lists

PJ StuffAs you might imagine, this Christmas is a little different for me. What do I want? I want to be well enough to make it through the midnight Christmas liturgy. And I'd love a stack of Christmas cards from across the globe.

I'd like for some crazy PJ to abscond with Charlie and send me a picture. He hasn't been making enough appearances lately.

And yes, I'd like some clothes that fit, slippers to warm my feet and a whole load of Kindle books to keep me entertained while I try to get through this.

But I'd really like for someone to bottle a year's supply of ocean air for me. Not being able to jump in the car and just drive to my Pacific Ocean is killing me right now.

Beyond that... I wish I could just do more for people. It's hard to ask for help, but I think it's even harder to ask for grace.

So what's on your Christmas list? Give me some entertainment here! :)

Must-read: The Heart and the Fist

PJ Stuff"The greatest way to honor those who have fallen is to live their values."

-Eric Greitens, The Heart and the Fist: The education of a humanitarian, the making of a Navy SEAL

The title is apt, and I don't know if I should waste your time with my own words. This was one of the best books I've read this year, maybe even the best. Reading it was like sitting down with a really good friend who understands what many people do not. (At times I thought it was like sitting down with some of you, and yes, that is a compliment.) I recommend it wholeheartedly, especially for aspiring warriors and those who struggle to understand the balancing act of humanitarian and military work. I'm very sad to have to relinquish this copy back to the library.

And the short, but heartfelt tribute to PJs doesn't hurt either. ;)
